We’re proud to share that the first cohort of the Semiconductor Skills Development Course, part of UK Government-funded Semiconductor Skills, Talent & Education programme, developed in partnership with the UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF) and delivered by Doulos, has now officially commenced at full capacity.
This milestone marks a significant step forward in addressing the UK’s growing need for skilled professionals in semiconductor design and engineering.
A Critical Investment in Future Talent
As the UK builds its sovereign capability in semiconductors, initiatives like this are vital to ensuring that new talent is not only attracted into the industry but also equipped with the real-world skills needed to succeed.
The online training, led by Doulos' expert instructors, blends live instructor-led teaching and self-paced study, with a strong focus on hands-on digital design and practical implementation.
Participants gain skills in:
- Combinational and Sequential Logic Design
- Synchronous FSM design
- ASIC and FPGA methodologies
- Industry-standard design flows and practices

This first cohort comprises undergraduates, postgraduates, and university lecturers from across the UK, and has reached full capacity, with 27 universities involved, demonstrating both the demand for this kind of upskilling and the readiness of the sector to support it.
